Living In The 90's

Inspired by Matt Bruce's 1990s Music, I decided to make my own list of favorite 90's songs. I was originally aiming for 30 songs, because that's what Matt had, and because I believe making difficult cuts increases the quality of the list. In the end I settled on 32 and took my inability to decide on the last two cuts as evidence that they all deserved to be there. My criteria were:

1. The song must have originally been released between 1990 and 1999, inclusive
2. No more than one song per artist
3. The song must be known to people who don't own the album it's from (no obscure tracks)
4. Only songs that I like (obviously)

My list, in no particular order:
Oasis - Champaign Supernova - 1995
Spin Doctors - Two Princes - 1991
Pearl Jam - Jeremy - 1991
Nirvana - Come As You Are - 1991
Green Day - Longview - 1994
Filter - Take a Picture - 1999
Goo Goo Dolls - Slide - 1998
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge - 1991
Seal - Kiss From a Rose - 1995
Monaco - What Do You Want From Me - 1997
REM - Everybody Hurts - 1992
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song - 1994
Alice In Chains - No Excuses - 1994
Blind Melon - No Rain - 1992
Shai - Baby I'm Yours - 1993
Janet Jackson - Where Are You Now - 1993
Counting Crows - Mr. Jones - 1994
Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm - 1994
Dave Matthews - Crash - 1996
Gin Blossoms - Found Out About You - 1992
Bruce Springsteen - Streets of Philadelphia - 1993
Pharcyde - Runnin' - 1995
Boyz II Men - End Of The Road - 1992
Lush - Last Night - 1996
The Offspring - Self Esteem - 1994
Madonna - I'll Remember - 1994
Lisa Loeb - Stay - 1994
Matchbox 20 - Real World - 1996
Radiohead - Creep - 1993
Beastie Boys - Sabotage - 1994
Breeders - Cannonball - 1993
Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm - 1993

Notable absences:
U2 - Their 1990's singles are incredibly weak relative to their catalog as a whole.
The Cure - My favorite band. "A Letter To Elise" was a tough cut, but their best singles are from the 80's and their best 90's song ("Trust") wasn't a single.
Rap - Aside from Runnin', the only rap song I seriously considered was "Bust A Move". Once I realized it came out in 1989, the decision for a nearly rap-free list was easy, even though I listened to quite a bit of rap in the early 90's.

Air

These guys are very good. I first learned of them when I saw them at Coachella in May, where they impressed me more than anyone else. (The Cure might have been better, but I had higher expectations for them). Recently I acquired Talkie Walkie, which is their most recent album. After 2.X listens, I like it a lot. The last song on the CD, which is one of the best, may be familiar to people who've seen Lost in Translation. It's very simple but very good. The only disappointment is that the CD doesn't have the same kind of impact the live performance had, but that's probably to be expected.
